1. Overview Of My Son Sanctuary
My Son Sanctuary was built with 2 main purposes:
- Worshiping the Champa kings
- Practicing religion, particularly Hinduism.
Champa Kindom was established in the 2nd Century CE. In the 19th century, Champa Kingdom disappeared from the map due to historical changes and the Cham people became one of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. Indian culture had a pretty strong influence on Champa culture and Hinduism became the dominant religion of the Champa Kingdom. In this article, we will share with you some information about Hinduism, one of the largest religions in the world.
2. Facts Of My Son Sanctuary
- In terms of the number of practitioners, Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world, with more than 1 billion adherents. The first is Christianity and the second is Islam.
- Hinduism is considered the oldest religion in the world, dating back to about 1500 BC.
Hinduism is considered a polytheistic religion. In the Hindu system, there are 330 million gods. Including 3 supreme gods:

- God Shiva: God of Creation and Destruction
- God Vishnu: The god of treasure
- God Brahma: God of Creation
3. Hinduism Concepts
To understand Hinduism, we need to understand the beliefs of Hindus. When learning about Hinduism, we probably encounter a few term such as:
- Reincarnation: Hinduism believes that, after death, our soul (Atman) will leave the body, then will find a new body as a place to live in the next life.
- Samsara: It is the cycle of life. People are born, grow up, and die. This circle will repeat again and again until people get enlightened and come out of it.
- Atman: It is the inner soul of the individual, the ultimate goal of man is to escape the Samsara, bringing Atman into the universal soul (Brahman)
- Brahman: It is the universal soul, the cosmos consciousness.
- Moksha: is the process of Atman returning to Brahman, the process of moving the soul inside each person back to the soul of the universe.
- Yoga: is a tool to help people to get Moksha. There are 4 types of yoga
- Karma yoga: Use the body to reach the ultimate nature.
- Jnana yoga: Use the intellect to reach the ultimate nature
- Bhakti yoga: Use devotion/ emotion to reach the ultimate nature
- Kriya yoga: Use energy to reach the ultimate nature
4. Conclusion
In conclusion: It can be said that Hinduism is one of the most influential religions in the human world. A lot of people have seen Hinduism as a way of life and practice it, instead of seeing it as a religion. Anyway, what matters is how we will apply these teachings to make our lives better.
